JMJ Studios is a boutique, all-female design firm based in Marin County. Founder Julie M. Johnson, brings strong commercial design and construction experience to private practice. As a firm, we are very accessible to our clients, and have a down-to-earth communication style. We believe the best ideas are a mind-meld between the builder, client and designer and require the whole team to be involved in the creative process. We are modernists in form and function and celebrate each client’s individual and unique style. Our strong communication, rigorous space-planning, constant collaboration and technical skills enable us to take your project to the next level.

We believe that architecture should be designed for a specific client, on a specific site, for a specific purpose and that it is all of our responsibility to bring an environmental consciousness to design.

WEN JIN

Wen began her architectural education at Tongji University in Shanghai, specializing in Historic Preservation. Wen was admitted first in class and received a scholarship awarded to the top 1% of her class. She later moved to Honolulu, and received her doctorate degree under Professor Spencer Leineweber, who helped broaden her interest in historic preservation. She received the Excellence in Design Award in 2015, for her design of a city complex on the north shore of the Suzhou River. Wen has worked on a range of architectural projects including: multi-family residences, shopping malls and school campuses. She worked for ZGF in Portland before joining JMJ Studios in 2016.
